| Playhouse | Guests spent evenings here playing pool, ping-pong, cards, roulette, and singing around the piano. William Coulter, architect, copied the design from the Main Lodge using similar spruce beams, knotty paneling, and granite for the huge fireplace. | ![]() |

| Bowling Alley | The workers dug down six feet to get below frost level before they began pouring concrete. Then Brunswick (Balke and Cullender) installed the lanes that have remained in place since 1914. | ![]() |

| Dining Hall | The original 1897 Durant Dining Hall was doubled in size in 1901 by Alfred Vanderbilt. In 1924 his widow Margaret added a large addition including this alcove. The hall now seats 84. | ![]() |

| Boathouse | Built on the leeway side of the lake, the boathouse is an original 1897 Durant building. |

| George's Cottage | This building served first as a laundry before being converted into a bedroom and sitting room for George's use. George was the second son of Alfred and Margaret Vanderbilt. | ![]() |

| Sagamore Lake | Great Camp Sagamore is located on Sagamore Lake, in the "forever wild" lands of the Forest Preserve of the Adirondacks. | ![]() |

| Main Lodge | Dating from 1897 the Main Lodge at Sagamore is William West Durant's greatest architectural achievement. He actually lived in it until 1901 when he sold Sagamore to Alfred Vanderbilt, the wealthiest young man in America. | ![]() |
