History
of sagamore
Great Camp Sagamore dates from 1897 and was the wilderness retreat of the Alfred G. Vanderbilt family from 1901-1954. A 27-building complex, it is now a National Historic Landmark. Visit Great Camp Sagamore to learn about its current operations by taking a tour offered twice a day in summer and once a day in shoulder seasons. The Michelin Guide awards Great Camp Sagamore’s “expert interpretation” its highest 3-star rating.
